Collective effort will secure protective environment for children: ASCPCR

Dhemaji (Assam) : Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights today said collective effort and realization of one’s responsibilities will secure a protective environment for children.

“Collective effort, dedication and realization of our responsibilities will secure a protective environment for children,” ASCPCR chairperson-in-charge Runumi Gogoi said at an awareness programme on child rights.

Gogoi also said it saddened her to learn that Assam tops the all-India list of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

In Assam, Dhemaji tops the list when it comes to child labour, she said, while making a presentation on the status of children in Assam with district-wise break up on issues of concern such as child labour, child marriage and out of school children.

Lakhimpur MP, Pradan Barua, said the government is committed to protect the underprivileged and the deprived.

The government will always take care of the issues related to children, he said.

“It is our responsibility as service providers and members of society to ensure that the rights of children are well protected,” Barua said.

“I shall ensure that more such programmes are organised at the Gaon Panchayat and village level for larger awareness and sensitization,” he said.
