Include traditional knowledge in agricultural research: WB Guv

Mohanpur:  West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathy said agricultural researchers should include traditional knowledge of farmers to maximise production.

Tripathy, who came to preside over the 20th convocation of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya here as chancellor, also said discussions were underway on the situation of agriculture and allied fields, following a flood-like scenario in some parts of the state.

State Agriculture Minister Ashis Banerjee, who was the special guest on the occasion, said there was accumulated rainwater water on agricultural fields, and once it dries, further assessment of the impact could be undertaken.

“In the meanwhile, seeds have been given to farmers,” he added.
