The state of Telangana has already enhanced the marriage incentive for differently-abled persons from 50,000 to 1 lakh starting January 1, 2018.
In 2015, N Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, expressed that the Government would do everything in its power to increase the Marriage Incentive Award initiated by the state, from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for all differently abled persons marrying other differently abled persons or those who were able.
Following suit, the state of Telangana has already enhanced the marriage incentive for differently abled persons from 50,000 to 1 lakh starting January 1, 2018. As per the Government order, the incentive will be given to a marriage between two differently abled persons or even an able person marrying a differently abled person.
This move endeavours to help differently abled individuals ease into mainstream society, and enable them to lead a life of happiness and dignity.
On Friday, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao said the order would come into effect from January 1, 2018, reports the Times of India.
The state government has several other initiatives to help the differently abled, including increasing the maintenance fees, reimbursement of tuition fees and special fees to differently abled students.
